What Does the Validator Check?

1. Canonical Schema

Fetches the schema the manifest declares from this site — /schemas/msr-2.1.json, or /schemas/msr-2.0.json for a 2.0 manifest — and applies its required fields, strict object structure, enums, patterns, numeric limits and collection constraints.

2. Same Source of Truth

The browser does not maintain copied enum lists or regular expressions. Schema updates served by the protocol become the validation rules automatically.

3. Scope

This tool validates manifest structure. It does not prove DNS ownership, reach external URLs, or verify a cryptographic signature; registries must perform those independent checks.
